Shalimpo is a privately owned game reserve situated in the eastern part of the Tuli Block of Botswana at the confluence of the Shashe and Limpopo Rivers.
Shalimpo and its neighbouring Tuli Block properties are unfenced and share a common fauna and flora conservation policy with an abundance of game and bird species. The Shashe river on the east and the Limpopo on the south constitute our boundaries with Zimbabwe and South Africa respectively and provide the reserve with 18km of riverine woodland.
This part of the Limpopo valley lies at an altitude of about 600 metres above sea level, and the Shashe river has a constant subterranean flow when not in flood. The result is some unique vegetation for this latitude similar to areas much closer to the equator, with some of the biggest tree species in the Southern African region.
At their confluence the rivers enclose two beautiful islands, also within the confines of the reserve. Shalimpo Game Lodge has its main camp or lodge on a hillock at the confluence and a single roomed bungalow on the bank of the Limpopo on the larger of the two islands.
