Kanana (Kanana is Setswana for 'paradise') is set deep in the Okavango Delta amongst grass-covered islands formed by fertile, eroded termite hills, dotted with Fig, Palm and other trees providing shade and a look out for predators to spot their prey on the flood plain. The Kanana tract encompasses a necklace of islands on the Xudum River, northeast of Pom Pom Camp.
Game viewing is by mokoro and on foot; you do not have the noise of the vehicle and therefore will experience the bush in its true form. You will be at one with nature without the intrusion of man. There will be the sounds of the safari bush and your footfalls on the earth.
The silence around Kanana will help your ears to pick-up the previously unheard sounds of the Botswana bush usually hidden by the mechanical hum of the car. You are on their ground on their terms.
This Botswana bush camp has 8 large, twin-bedded safari style tents with sewn-in floors and windows built on plinths overlooking the Delta. Private en-suite bathroom with hot and cold running water (24 hours), a shower and flush toilets.
Health
The Okavango Delta is situated in a malaria area. Guests are advised to consult their doctor regarding prophylactics.
Child Policy
Regrettably Kanana does not cater for children under the age of 10 years.
