Jao's 2 storey common area resembles a wonderful open-air museum, filled with pan-African artefacts. Downstairs, there is a sitting area and library moulded into the clay walls with chairs made from tree trunks, carved and polished into surprisingly comfortable works of art.
Jao Camp is an 18 bedded luxury tented camp situated in a private reserve to the west of the Moremi Game Reserve, within the northern reaches of the Okavango Delta. Jao Camp is located in a remote area on a long oblong shaped island. Across the waterway in front of camp, guests have access to open flood plains and savannah country for a wonderful Okavango experience.
Each room is under a beautiful canopy of shady trees in superb, twin bedded canvas walled rooms under thatch, with en-suite bathrooms and an outside shower under the stars. Nooks and crannies dug into the mud walls hold chunky handmade candles. This area leads onto a lovely deck built over the flood plain, which supports a swimming pool. Enormous wooden gongs hang on thick ropes from the trees.
