Abu Camp in Botswana is located on a vast 450 000 acre private concession in the heart of the Okavango Delta. All the Delta's habitat types are represented on the concession, from permanent channels to flood plains, savanna bushveld to Mopane forest and open grasslands.

With its prime location in the Delta, the area is also rich in game and guests have the possibility of seeing just about every species of animal associated with the African bush, from 'dangerous game' like Lion, Leopard, Buffalo and Elephant, to Giraffe, Hippo and a spectacular array of plains game species.

Abu Camp is named after the legendary Elephant 'Abu', the star of such motion pictures as 'White Hunter Black Heart', and 'The Power of One'. Abu is an Arabic word meaning 'everything to do with Elephants'. Abu has recently passed away and the herd’s matriarch Cathy is a wonderful and gentle Elephant. Cathy leads a herd of 8 elephants ranging from 3 years old to 40 years old.

Maun is the gateway to the Okavango Delta in Botswana and is accessed by light aircraft. You will be met at Maun airport by a staff member and transferred to your charter flight to camp - a short 30-minute flight. There is a luggage restriction on this flight of 20kg (44lbs) per person (if guests are flown on Sefofane Air Charters. Baggage must be in soft-sided luggage please - no suitcases. Excess luggage can be stored in the Maun office.
